On May 19, we successfully held the 4th Hungarian National EDF Information Day at the D50 Hotel in Budapest — with over 150 professionals from government, industry, and academia joining the event.

The morning sessions focused on the governmental vision and policy frameworks surrounding EDF implementation, featuring high-level representatives from key Hungarian ministries and experts from DG DEFIS and the European Defence Agency.

In the afternoon, we turned to practical insights: companies with successful EDF project experience shared their lessons learned, alongside support organisations offering guidance to future applicants. These discussions provided concrete takeaways for those planning to engage in the 2025 calls.

For the Defence Innovation Research Institute of Hungary, this event was an important part of our ongoing mission to:

  • Provide the Hungarian defence innovation ecosystem with reliable, up-to-date information,
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and matchmaking,
  • And support all stakeholders in navigating the complexities of EDF participation.

The hEDF 2025 calls are now open, with a submission deadline of October 16, 2025, 17:00 CET.

Now is the right time to:

  • Explore the relevant topics,
  • Identify potential partners,
  • And start building strong consortia.
