As part of the Turkish-Hungarian Year of Science and Innovation, we had the opportunity to facilitate the visit of a high-level delegation from HAVELSAN to Hungary between May 7–9, 2025.
Designed to support Hungary’s growing defence innovation ecosystem, this one-day event will offer practical insights into the 2025 EDF calls, funding opportunities, and strategies for successful participation. You’ll hear from both Hungarian and EU-level experts, including DG-DEFIS and the European Defence Agency (EDA), and take part in panel discussions and networking sessions with key stakeholders.
We are proud to share that Zoltan Szokolay, VIKI’s Head of Engineering Department, represented our company at the Turkish–Hungarian Defence Innovation Working Group meeting held in Ankara.
We’re proud to highlight Dr. David Sziroczak, project engineer at VIKI, who recently gave a presentation on hypersonic aerodynamics, showcasing our commitment to cutting-edge aerospace research. His talk explored the unique challenges of flight at speeds exceeding Mach 5, where the behavior of airflow changes dramatically compared to conventional aircraft.
On April 9, the Defence Innovation Research Institute of Hungary (VIKI), the Ministry of Defence, and the Hungarian Development Promotion Office (MFOI Advisory) co-hosted a professional event in Budapest to support Hungarian stakeholders in navigating EU funding and NATO programs in the field of defence.
On April 7, VIKI and the University of Public Service (NKE) signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at accelerating innovation and development within the defence sector.
The European Defence Fund (EDF) supports projects across EU Member States and Norway between 2021–2027 to enhance Europe’s defence capabilities. These initiatives aim to involve as many industry players as possible who possess defence capacities, dual-use technologies, and valuable expertise.
On 27 March, we welcomed university students, young professionals, and startups to our ScienceLab in Budaörs for a full day of hands-on innovation, creative problem-solving, and collaborative energy.
On October 28, VIKI’s expert team visited the Hungarian Defence Forces’ Klapka György 1st Armored Brigade in Tata. This visit aimed to strengthen professional connections and deepen VIKI’s understanding of the Defence Forces’ needs.
