Strengthening Territorial Defence – Innovation in Action at Nagykanizsa

On 18 October 2025, the Defence Innovation Research Institute (VIKI) took part in the Territorial Defence Forces Professional Day in Nagykanizsa – a full-day event bringing together cadets, reservists and the local community.

More than 600 participants engaged with our demonstrations, exploring both static displays and hands-on experiences. From the SST drone concept and UGV autonomous control, to the light modular off-road platform, visitors got a first-hand look at how innovation supports Hungary’s defence. At another station, guests immersed themselves in the HADIK VR training concept, even trying their skills at robotic dog control – experiences that sparked real curiosity and excitement.

The event was officially opened by Lt. Gen. Zoltán Mihócza, who highlighted the importance of cooperation in strengthening the territorial reserve. The atmosphere throughout the day reflected openness, interest and enthusiasm – showing how innovation can connect with people at every level.

For VIKI, it was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our role in shaping future-ready capabilities and to share our mission with both professionals and civilians.
