The European Defence Agency’s (EDA) Modern Army Readiness with Simulation (MARS) working group met in Budapest on 25–26 February, bringing together experts from ten European member states as well as NATO specialists to discuss the role of advanced simulation in military training.

In December 2025, VIKI organised the Technology and Defence: The Future of Warfare (TECHDEF25) conference, welcoming nearly 600 participants from government, academia and industry, both from Hungary and the international community.

On 23 September 2025, the Hungarian Defence Innovation Research Institute (VIKI) had the honour of hosting Major General Tibor Králik, Commander of the Headquarters Multinational Division Centre (HQ MND-C), and his Command Group.

On 10 September 2025, the Bálna Defence Centre in Budapest hosted the first joint conference of Saab and VIKI, dedicated to the future of air power and defence innovation. The event brought together government officials, representatives of the Hungarian Defence Forces, industry leaders, academics, and international partners.

As of August 2025, our website offers a new AI-based chatbot designed to assist users with questions related to the European Defence Fund (EDF).

On a recent professional visit to the Defence Innovation and Research Institute (VIKI), General Dr Gábor Böröndi, Chief of the Hungarian Defence Staff, received an in-depth briefing on the Institute’s current research, development, and innovation projects. One of VIKI’s core missions is to support the transformation of the Hungarian Defence Forces through cutting-edge defence research and technology development.
