At AI Summit 2025 in Budapest, VIKI joined the ongoing discussion about how artificial intelligence is transforming defence. The event brought together researchers, innovators, and decision-makers to exchange views on where AI is taking us and what challenges lie ahead.
Our contributions reflected this dual perspective — on both the immediate issues and the changes already on the horizon. Dr. Gergely Németh, CEO of VIKI, addressed how AI can become a path toward greater effectiveness in defence, but also how it can expose vulnerabilities and create risks of failure if applied without care. He also spoke about 2027 as a future that is no longer distant, but one that is already approaching rapidly, pressing us to act today.
Alongside this, our lead XR researcher, Gergely Kovacs, presented on how VR and MR technologies can be integrated with AI-based solutions to support defence. His perspective underlined how immersive environments can add practical value, from training and simulation to complex operational support, especially when combined with AI.
For us, the Summit was not about providing final answers but about sparking dialogue and testing ideas in open conversation. It was another step in a longer journey — building shared understanding with partners, engaging with a diverse community of experts, and ensuring that our research remains connected to both technological progress and the realities of defence.
