From 19 to 22 September 2026, our colleagues tested our in-house Digital Twin / XR solution at the Santa Margarida Military Training Area in Portugal as part of the HEDI OPEX26-1 / ARTEX26 military exercise. Working alongside the Portuguese Army and EDA HEDI experts, they explored how the technology can be applied in real military conditions.
During the test, we used drone-collected data to create a digital replica of a designated part of the training area, which military users could explore on computers, mobile devices and in virtual reality. This allowed us to assess the systems’s usability in real field conditions and gain first-hand insights to guide its further development.
On site, we introduced Portuguese military personnel to the platform, which they explored independently during the exercise. Working together gave us a valuable opportunity to understand users’ needs first-hand and help shape the solution’s further development.
Thank you to our colleagues Gergely KOVACS, Ph.D., Hédi Katreiner, Attila MAGOS and Alfréd Szűcs for their work; the representatives from the Ministry of Defence of Hungary, for their contribution; and to our Portuguese hosts and theEDA HEDI experts for their cooperation!
