On June 25, we had the privilege of co-hosting a forward-looking workshop in collaboration with the Hungarian Defence Industry Association (MVSZ). The event brought together experts, researchers, and defence professionals to examine how emerging technologies could shape the future of national security.
The day began with welcome remarks from Róbert Pachner, President of MVSZ, highlighting the importance of strategic dialogue and industry collaboration in shaping Hungary’s defence future. Our CEO, Dr. Gergely Németh, followed with a keynote on the importance of strategic foresight in defence planning.
Dr. Ferenc Kaiser then delivered a compelling overview of the global megatrends expected to define the security landscape by 2045. Later, Gábor Mészáros, VIKI’s Director of Research, shared insights into the evolving role of artificial intelligence in military contexts, from autonomous systems to decision-making support.
After a short break, participants engaged in a workshop focused on four priority areas: communication systems, autonomous vehicles and robotics, sensor technologies and data processing, and cyber warfare. The sessions sparked fresh thinking and underscored the value of ongoing collaboration between defence, academia, and industry.
We believe that strategic foresight and cross-sector partnerships are essential to preparing for the complex challenges ahead. This workshop reaffirmed our commitment to supporting innovative, technology-driven defence solutions.
