At VIKI, we were proud to organise, together with the Ministry of Defence of Hungary and the Hungarian Development Promotion Office (MFOI Advisory), the 5th Hungarian National EDF Information Day with more than 200 participants on 31 March 2026 in Budapest.
The event created a unique platform for dialogue, bringing together stakeholders from government, industry, research, and international organisations to exchange insights, build connections, and explore opportunities within the European Defence Fund (EDF).
Through a combination of high-level presentations, panel discussions, and interactive roundtables, participants gained valuable perspectives on EDF priorities, application experiences, and the broader landscape of European defence innovation. Just as importantly, the event fostered meaningful discussions and helped strengthen connections across the Hungarian and international ecosystem
We are grateful to our distinguished speakers and panelists — László Deme (Ministry of Defence of Hungary), Dr. Balázs Péter Molnár (Ministry of European Union Affairs of Hungary), Dr. Bernadett Petri (Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development of Hungary), Dr. Rada Csaba (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary), Oliver Szabo (Ministry of National Economy of Hungary), Adrienn Ranga (Ministry of Culture and Innovation of Hungary), Dominik Wullers (European Commission), Heather Buisman (NATO DIANA), Trisha Saxena (NATO Innovation Fund (NIF)), Dr. Marianna Miklós-Molnár (National Development Centre), Dr. Attila Nyikos (HUN-REN TKI (Office for Supported Research Groups)), Simon Attila (4iG Space and Defence Technologies), Dr. Zsolt Végvári (University of Public Service), Dr. Andras Benczur (HUN-REN SZTAKI (Institute for Computer Science and Control)), Dr. Péter Mogyorósi (LC Innoconsult International), Dr. Zoltán Vincze (Nokia Bell Labs), Krisztián Busa (Ministry of Defence of Hungary), Dr. András Levente Balog (Ministry of Defence of Hungary), Csilla Buda (Enterprise Europe Network Hungary), Dr. Janos Matuz (MFOI), János Dászkál (MFOI), Szíjjártó Bálint (CyEx.hu), Dr. László Szatmári (VIKI), Gábor Mészáros (VIKI), and Gyula Pomázi (VIKI)— whose contributions ensured a rich and engaging programme.
The strong participation and active exchange of ideas clearly demonstrated the growing momentum of the defence innovation ecosystem in Hungary and its integration into European initiatives.
Thank you to everyone who joined us — we look forward to seeing these discussions turn into future collaborations and successful EDF projects.
