The European Defence Fund (EDF) supports projects across EU Member States and Norway between 2021–2027 to enhance Europe’s defence capabilities. These initiatives aim to involve as many industry players as possible who possess defence capacities, dual-use technologies, and valuable expertise.
As part of its public mission, the Defence Innovation Research Institute of Hungary (VIKI) actively supports Hungarian defence stakeholders in securing EDF funding. One key to success is visibility — creating awareness that helps build future partnerships.
At the EDF Info Days organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DEFIS), held on April 2–3, 2025 in Brussels, ten Hungarian companies, institutions, and startups showcased their innovations during the “Pitch Day” — making Hungary one of the most active EU participants.
The evening before the presentations, Dr. Ódor Bálint, Hungary’s Permanent Representative to the EU, hosted a reception honoring the Hungarian delegates. The event was attended by Dr. Gergely Németh , CEO of VIKI, Levente Bánfalvi, Hungary’s ambassador to the PSC and András Levente dr. BALOG, Mod, EDF National focal point.
We are proud to contribute to strengthening Hungary’s role in European hashtag#defence innovation!
