The Budapest Security Dialogue commenced last evening with a gala dinner at the historic Royal Riding Hall in Buda Castle.
László Deme, Deputy State Secretary for Force Development and Defence Innovation, Ministry of Defence, spoke about the recent activities of VIKI and the ministry’s plans to develop Hungary’s defence ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of swift innovation and adaptation in defence strategies.
The event featured speeches by Dr. Arne Gobert and Wolf Illner, the managing directors of the BSD, which set the context for discussions on defense and innovation. Additional insights were provided by Timo Haas, CDO of Rheinmetall, and Vidor Kis-Márton, CEO of Continest.
The “Innovation Night” served as the precursor to the engaging sessions planned for the conference, promoting collaboration among leaders in the field of defense and security.
Starting today, the two-day expert forum addresses topics related to peace and war, security policy issues in Central Europe and the Western Balkans, developments in the defense industry across Europe and globally, research and technological advancements, and economic considerations.
